However, as we speak of Kodi, one thing which cannot be ignored is the errors and bugs that pop-up while streaming.
And so today we are going to talk about the no sound error on Kodi.
Sometimes when we sit down to watch our favorite show or movie, the sound goes off.
This is very frustrating and you cannot hear anything.
There can be a lot of reasons behind the Kodi no sound issue, and we have tried to cover as many ways as possible to fix Kodi no sound error in less than 2 minutes.
So let us begin.
It is important to understand the reason before troubleshooting any issue. It can be due to faulty hardware or cable. Or if you are using an older version of Kodi or the addons then also you can face audio issues.
And so before giving up your Kodi, try out these methods to fix the sound problem.
One of the common reasons behind the no audio issue is the outdated version of the streaming platform.
And so if you are using the old Kodi version then reinstalling the latest software can work wonders for you.
Most of the users reported that their sound issue had resolved after they reinstalled the Kodi player.
First, uninstall the already running Kodi player on your device. Then go to the official website of Kodi and download the latest version.
Try to play the videos again and check if the error still persists. If you can now listen to music, then you are good to go. Else check out the next method.
One reason that you cannot hear sound on your Kodi media player is that you might have reset the sound to zero levels. Check the volume and fix the bug by following the given steps-
Step 1- Start playing the movie or music you want to listen to.
Step 2- Once it starts playing, click on Settings. And then go to the Audio Settings section.
Step 3- See if the decibel bar against the Volume option is at maximum. If not, then use the remote to increase the volume.
Resetting the audio settings can also fix the sound issues on Kodi. Sometimes while using the shortcut keys or changing some options, we edit or modify the default settings.
And so this is another way to fix the issue and revert to the default audio settings.
Step 1- Open the Kodi app. Go to the Settings.
Step 2- Then open the System section.
Step 3-Click Audio on the menu given on the left-hand side.
Step 4- At the bottom left corner of the screen, you will see the Basic option. Click on it thrice to change the Basic Setting to Standard> Advanced> Expert.
Step 5- Move to the right side now. Scroll down to locate the Reset above settings to the default option. Click on this option and all your audio settings will be reset to default.
Step 6-You will get a confirmation message. Click on Yes and restart the media player.
So if the error was with your Kodi media player then it will be resolved. However, if you are not able to receive the sound because of the Kodi addons then try the next method.
Sometimes you face the sound bug only at a particular addon or channel. This means that the addon or plugin that you are using is not up to date.
And so the simplest way to fix it is by updating that particular add-on.
Step 1- Open the Settings of your Kodi software. Go to Add-ons and select the media channels to stream a movie or video.
Step 2- Then select the Update option. A lot of pop-ups will appear. Select the most recent version available.
Step 3- After the update process completes, restart the Kodi media player.
Check if you can hear the sound output now. If the problem still persists, then it is possible that your sound driver is corrupted.
So your next step should be checking the sound driver.
If you are using a Windows system to run the Kodi media player, then check your sound driver. Updating the sound driver can also fix Kodi no sound errors easily.
Follow the steps given below-
Step 1- Click on the Start button. In the Search bar, type Device Manager.
Step 2- From the list of results, click on the top option.
Step 3- Under the Device Manager section, double-click on the Sound, video, and game controllers option. From the expanded options, choose your output device.
Step 4-Right click on High Definition Audio Device. And then choose the Update Driver option.
Step 5- A new window will open. Click on Search automatically for updated driver software. Your device will automatically search for the latest version of the audio output driver on the Internet.
If you want you can download the driver yourself and then go with the second point.
Step 6- Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the process of installing the updated driver.
After the audio driver is fixed, your Kodi no sound issue should also be resolved. Play any video to check the sound system.
The audio streams are scraped from different sources by Kodi which is then sent to the channels and further to the speakers.
And so if you want to receive the audio in the raw format you can activate the passthrough option on Kodi.
And so your audio is not decoded, and you can use your own speakers to play the audio. Here is how you can enable the audio passthrough on Kodi.
Step 1- Play any movie or video of your choice. As the video starts to play, click on the Settings icon.
Step 2- Go to the Audio Settings.
Step 3- Check the Allow Passthrough option. Click on the toggle button and enable it.
Step 4- Close the window. And check if the audio is working properly or not.
Changing the audio channel can also work sometimes. The channel that we are streaming might be using the 5.1 runaway, however, you might not own the 5.1 speakers set up. And so this process can help you get the audio playback on your streams.
Step 1- Go to the Home Screen. Open Settings.
Step 2- Click on System. Choose the Audio tab from the left menu.
Step 3- You will get a list of channels. Select Channel 5.1 from the drop-down list.
And now check if the issue has been resolved or not. If the issue still persists, then maybe you have to do a physical examination.
The last way to troubleshoot the no sound issue on Kodi is by checking the hardware. And so make sure that your hardware is working properly.
Check Connecting Ports
Proper working of connecting ports also plays a major role in the audio output. And so if there is dust in the connecting ports, use some brush to clean it.
Check the Audio Cable
When you are using speakers or any external audio output device then check its cable.
Try using some other cable or check the old cable with some other device to know what is faulty.
Check Bluetooth Audio Connection
If you are using Bluetooth audio, then an unstable Bluetooth connection can also be the cause behind no sound error.
To prevent the interruption of signals, turn off the Bluetooth connection of your device and Kodi. And see if it works..
