Before you hop on to the troubleshooting methods, now that notifications on your Apple Watch will not appear if your iPhone is locked or you are actively using it.
For some users restarting their device brought back the notifications. To restart your Apple Watch, follow the given steps –
Step 1 – Press the side button on your watch and hold it till the red slider appears on your screen.
Step 2 – Drag the slider to power off the watch and wait till it completely shuts down.
Step 3 – Again press and hold the power button of the Apple Watch till the logo comes back.
Also restart your iPhone just like you do every time by pressing the Volume Up or down button and the power button simultaneously.
The next step is to check the notification settings of your phone. For iPhone –
Step 1 – Open the Settings of your phone. And go to Notifications and enable it.
Also, your Apple Watch happens to mirror the Notification settings of your iPhone. You can edit the notification settings –
Step 1 – Go to the Apple Watch app option on your iPhone. Then click on My Watch.
Step 2 – Next, click on the Notifications> Phone option.
Step 3 – Click on Mirror My Phone and enable it.

Sometimes we turn on the Do Not Disturb feature and forget it. It can silence the notifications and alerts. And as a result, you won’t be able to receive notifications on your Apple Watch.
To turn it off, go to the Settings on your watch and then click on the Do Not Disturb option. Make sure you tap it in such a way that this feature is turned off.
Similarly, turn off the Do Not Disturb feature on your iPhone as well. Another setting that works like Do No Disturb is Cover to Mute. It also silences the incoming notifications and alerts on Apple Watch. To turn this feature off –
Step 1 – Open the Settings> Apple Watch app.
Step 2 – Click on My Watch. Then under Sounds and Haptics, turn off the Cover to Mute option.
Another important thing to keep in mind is to run both devices on the latest software. Follow the steps given below to check the version of your iPhone’s software –
Step 1 – Open the Settings of your Apple watch.
Step 2 – Click on General> Software Update.
Check the software of the iPhone similarly, by going to Settings and then Software Update under the General Settings section.
Your iPhone notifications might not be working with Apple Watch because your device would not be connected to the WiFi connection or cellular network.
Try the following troubleshooting –
Step 1 – Click on the Airplane Mode option and turn it on. Then wait for about 20 seconds and again turn it off.
Also, you can reset the Network Settings and then check if the notifications start to appear or not.
Step 2 – Go to the Settings. Then under General Settings, click on Reset.
Step 3 – Select Reset Network Settings.
