Google Home and its smart devices make our home smart. Performance-oriented, but what happens when it underperforms.
Feel annoyed right?
Sometimes the WiFi network interferes, or the speaker fails to deliver the sound or the Google Home lights stop responding.
All these situations occur usually after power outages, demanding you to restart or reset your device for it to respond.
Today we will be sharing with you some methods to troubleshoot an issue reported by a lot of users that Google Home lights are not responding after a power outage.
Restarting your Google Home is heard to be a working solution for most of the equipment. It indeed works in this situation as well, but we have got you various other solutions and workarounds also.
It is important that your Google Home lights or smart lights are running on the latest firmware. You can thus check for software updates within the App. Follow the given instructions for the firmware update.
Step 1 – Open your Google Home app. Select your smart lights.
Step 2 – Go to the Settings of your device. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and check the firmware version.
If you have Philips Hue lights connected to your Google Home, then open the Philips Hue app on your mobile device. Within the Settings, click on the Software Update option and go ahead from there.
The light bulb should be compatible with your Google Home. You will need a bridge like the second-generation Philips Hue bridge for the lights to work.
The best way to know whether your bulbs are compatible or not is to check the model of your smart lights in the Software update section.
Another method that has helped a few users when their smart lights are not responding after a power outage is changing the Power On the behavior of each bulb.
In this way, you can select the lights that you want to return to their default behavior or setting after a power surge.
Step 1 – Open the Settings and choose the Power-On behavior option.
Step 2 – Now select the light bulbs or lights of which you want to change the settings.
Step 3 – Select the Power-on behavior like “maintain the already chosen settings” or “revert to the default settings.”
Repeat the process for every other light or bulb you want to change.
Note – If you see a message “Not supported” in Orange color, then it depicts that the bulb is not supported.
After the power outage, a few users complained that they couldn’t access the smart lights. If your smart assistant is unable to access your devices then you need to unlink them.
Step 1 – Remove the particular Google Home light from your app.
Step 2 – Refresh our device and then relink the smart lights.
After re-linking your smart lights try the voice commands to access them. If this method doesn’t work, then move to the next method.
Last but not least method to fix Google Home lights not responding after a power outage is rebooting the Google Home lights.
Frequent power cuts can reduce the device’s ability to boot itself. Follow the steps given below to boot your Google Home assistant and fix the errors associated with it.
Step 1 – Remove the power cable from the device.
Step 2 – Wait for 30 seconds or a minute and then plug back the power cord.
Step 3 – Let the device reboot completely. Once the reset process is completed, try using the device.
If the above methods don’t work then you can try to reset the device to factory default. Factory reset is the ultimate solution that can get your smart light bulb to respond after a power outage.
